Tribe opens Australia office to work on major infrastructure projects

October 04, 2016

ABU DHABI, 4th October 2016 – Tribe Infrastructure Group, the Abu Dhabi-based advisory and investment firm, has opened a new office in Australia to work on major infrastructure projects in areas such as waste-to-energy.

The office will be headed by Ed Nicholas, who has close to two decades of experience structuring and executing M&A, joint venture and project finance transactions, most recently as general counsel at Abu Dhabi government-owned Mubadala Investment Company.

Tribe is already advising on a major resource recovery project in Perth, providing financial modelling, conducting technical, legal, tax and financial due diligence and implementing an end-to-end financing strategy.

“Tribe is helping to deliver high-value projects as a consultant and investor in Asia and the Middle East, and we see similar opportunity in Australia, where our team has very strong connections in the infrastructure sector,” said Peter McCreanor, Chief Executive Officer at Tribe.

“In Ed Nicholas, we have an expert in structuring transactions in many different business environments across Asia, Middle East and Australia.  He has a real passion for delivering sustainable projects that improve peoples’ lives and we believe that this drive will lead to success for Tribe’s partners.”

Nicholas, who joins Tribe as an executive director, has extensive experiencing in leading transactions in several areas of infrastructure, including conventional and renewable power, water, wastewater, district cooling, metals and mining and transportation.

“I’m looking forward to building long-term, trusted relationships with our partners and clients by ensuring we provide senior expertise, as well as the attention they need to achieve their business goals,” Nicholas said.

“We will bring many strengths to the Australian infrastructure arena, not least our record of consistently bringing challenging projects to a successful close.  Whether as participating co-investors or as independent advisers, we work singularly in the interests of our projects and our clients, while activating our relationships with industry players and sources of capital to ensure we all succeed.”
